​Shannon Cantrell was elected Assessor of Property in 2016. Under his leadership, the office has maintained Three‑Star Certification through the Tennessee Association of Assessing Officers since 2019. He has completed more than 300 hours of professional training through the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO), the Tennessee Department of Property Assessments (DPA), and the University of Tennessee’s County Technical Assistance Service (CTAS). Shannon has also served as pastor of Temple Independent Missionary Baptist Church since 2008.

​Shannon has been married to his wife, Tonya, since 1994. They have two adult children, Kaylee Allen (married to Kyle Allen) and Levi Cantrell, and one granddaughter, Blakelee Allen.
